B. Lane called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Elgin Math & Science Academy to order on Monday Oct 23, 2023 at 3:17 PM.

The May 18th, 2023 Meeting Minutes will be approved at the Board Meeting. 

II. Principals Report

A.

Updates for school

Provided Principal's report.

 

Staffing positions to fill (8th Grade TA, 5th Grade TA, 4th Grade TA, Bilingual Teacher, SPED Teacher, Dean of Crew and Culture, and Lunch and Recess Monitors).

 

Highlights: 

  • Middle School dance was a great hit.
  • Middle School clubs up and running.
  • Competitive Sports Teams (Basketball and Volleyball)
  • Fall Testing has been completed except for a couple of assessments on FastBridge.
  • Professional Development with School Designer.
  • National Conference coming up for EL Education.

Report provided by PowerSchool Consultant.

  • Percentage of attendance for September. 
  • Transferred out students. 
  • 463 students.
  • Free and Reduced Lunch numbers - 55% 
  • Breakdown of demographics and ethnicities. 
  • Number of students for MLL services.
  • Number of students for SPED services. 

IV. Student Achievement

Reviewing IAR, NWEA, Lexia, Fastbridge data

J. Willer reviewed the IAR, NWEA, and Fastbridge data. 

 

The score for the school report card is commendable. It is the second-highest school on the school report card. 

 

Data was reviewed for the following assessments:

  • IAR
  • NWEA
  • Fastbridge
