G. Swick called a meeting of the Environmental Work Group--Subcommittee to Master Plan and Facilities Committee of Elgin Math & Science Academy to order on Friday Dec 16, 2022 at 7:30 AM.

Green Label School - Goal for EMSA?

Ongoing Tree Care & Planned Landscaping
Committee members discussed some tree care set to take place over the Winter Break. Besides removal of a tree threatening the Dining Hall, there were some dead limbs around campus which will be trimmed away by John from R&M Tree Service.

Educational Spaces, Playgrounds & Natural Play Areas
The Committee remarked on the successful application of wood chips to the playgrounds, and what a difference this makes. Likewise the gravel on the road was a successful application.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 AM.

The group discussed the Green Label School eligibility criteria. There was general agreement these criteria could help to orient EMSA's sustainability planning, and that designation as a Green Label School was something EMSA should consider making a goal.
