Call the Meeting to Order

S. Bennett called a meeting of the board of directors of Elgin Math & Science Academy to order on Tuesday Sep 29, 2026 at 4:11 PM.

Approve Minutes from the August 2026 Board of Directors Meeting

P. Stagen made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 08-18-26.
A. Krog seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Review August Financial Statements

A. Krog provided a current status of the financials compared to projected and forecast.

Executive Director's Report

K. Martinez provided highlights of the current events within the School, including current enrollment, student demographics and staffing. 

 

K. Martinez discussed student's grade level performance overall for the school.

 

 

V. Board Development and Training

A.

INCS Training: What Schools Can and Can't Do in Politics and Elections

Complete in-person training for board members and staff related to permitted and prohibited activities of a 501(c)(3) non-profit. 

VI. EMSA Committee Reports

A.

EPTC Update

J. Delgado provided the recent EPTC Club activities and events success and funds raised. 
J. Delgado also discussed the upcoming events and forecasted fundraising.

J. Delgado made a motion to enter Executive Session.
T. Gandhi seconded the motion.

K. Martinez invited into Executive Session.

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

K. Martinez provided status on recent activity within the School under the counsel of EMSA's Attorney.

Motion to Exit Closed Session

P. Stagen made a motion to Exit Closed Session.
K. Morse seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

J. Delgado made a motion to Enter Closed Session.
T. Gandhi seconded the motion.
