B. | COO Report on Expansion
Review of construction plans--per chair's request--to refresh everyone's memory.
Husar Environmental successfully completed the removal of interior asbestos from the Building in January, as scheduled.
We are prepping the building for temp heat, and awaiting a Building Permit from the City of Elgin.
Bulley & Andrews has finalized some trade bidding but quite a few important trade categories are being bid out. Additional cost for civil engineering improvements reviewed with the MPC and EC are being added. Some structural engineering additions (relatively minor) are being added mostly for repair of two columns in the garage.
Green Guerrilla has developed some campus rain water mitigation measures in a proposal which is attached. The Green Guerrilla ideas complement/align with the ideas of the project civil engineer/hydrologist Dr. Siamak Malek of Terra Engineering, whose narrative to describe the underground water flow, and exterior water outflow, is also attached.
Overall, project on schedule - and financing also on schedule, expected closing remains late March.

C. | Campus Planning--Update on Parking Focus
The Parking Plan will be discussed in the Enviro Work Group meeting--feel free to attend and/or send your questions/comments to the Work Group (email KKelly@emsacharter.org and dalexander@emsacharter.org)
Continuing conversation from prior MPC Meeting...
Wheeler Kearns and the civil engineer have laid out fifteen new parkng spaces in "Silo Island" as shown on the attached drawing. This will involve the removal of two walnut trees. The parking spaces are shown as gravel, with wheelstops, in order to reduce impereable surface "add." This can be a topic for discussion.
Note, we will also need to add a handicapped parking space near the Administration Building, which conforms to ADA regulation on ground slope. So that would be a net addition of 16 parking spaces to campus, to bring us to 72 dedicated spaces in the main part of the campus, and additionally the spaces by the Dorm. |

D. | Sustainability | |
What specific items impacting our sustainability have been added or removed from the Construction Plans? (E.g., electric/gas). How does sustainability influence our planning? How do we incorporate sustainability principles regularly? |
||
E. | Future Communications and Community Questions/Ideas Regarding Construction
F. | Back-up Plans to Admin Building Construction
III. | Other Business | |
A. | Kindergarten Outdoor Learning Lab
The fencing project was completed; now the space will be filled by the Kindergarten team.
Happy to help as needed - are there materials or construction needed? |
