Discuss phasing of project and set priorities for needs and wants according to EMSA campus master plan. This set of priorities will be communicated to Leopardo for preconstruction and phasing costs.

Two programs for consideration:
  1. Illinois Landmarks Award--Action Needed
  2. National Historic Landmarks Federal Program (see attached proposal)
  3. Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation Net Zero Energy Building Program (https://www.illinoiscleanenergy.org/energy-program/net-zero-energy-building-program)
  4. Steelcase Furniture: https://www.steelcase.com/discover/information/education/active-learning-center-grant/
Both programs are intensive but have high reward potential.  Our initial review indicates that neither may be practical at this time, but awareness (for future opportunities) and discussion of our options would be beneficial.

III. Facilities
  A. Tree and ecosystem protections
   
  1. EMSA must always be balancing student outdoor engagement and health of the surrounding ecosystem.  Currently, the oaks between the Neil and Gym buildings are being injured by the compressing of the soil around their bases.  Strategize how to address this.
  2. In general and during construction, what protections will be needed?
