Discuss Academic Updates

Kathleen Liljeberg, Director of Assessment & Performance Management, presented beginning-of-year assessment findings for Lighthouse Community Public Schools. The presentation highlighted key strengths, areas for growth, and emerging trends in student achievement data. Erin Verma, Director of Secondary Academics, provided supplemental context and responses related to secondary academic trends and instructional implications.

Board members asked follow-up questions regarding the use of coaching and observation models to support instructional improvement, differentiation based on identified student and teacher needs, and the potential for analyzing teacher and student outcomes year over year.

Dr. Shajaira Lopez, Chief Academic Officer, concluded the discussion by emphasizing a focused approach to using the assessment data to identify areas requiring additional support. She shared that the organization will start small by identifying specific areas of need, examining where additional support can have the greatest impact, and using those findings to inform next steps for instructional support and improvement.
