During the meeting, Guvanch Yazgeldi, HPS Director of Student Culture, presented the proposed revisions to the Harmony Public Schools Parent and Student Handbook – Supplement for Harmony Virtual Academy for the 2025–2026 school year. Mr. Yazgeldi reviewed updates and clarifications to several key sections, including the Tobacco-Free School Notice, which now provides specific language on vaping and e-cigarette use and distinguishes between nicotine/CBD and THC-related violations. Revisions to the Electronic Devices and Technology Resources section require students to keep personal devices powered off and stored in lockers or backpacks during the instructional day. A new Personal Device Use & Possession Policy was introduced to outline storage requirements, limited exceptions, and disciplinary consequences for unauthorized use. Additional updates included the Dress Code – Hair section, which adds language prohibiting discrimination based on hair texture or protective hairstyles, and clarifications to the Disciplinary Process and Level II Offenses to ensure fairness and alignment with state law. A new section was also added addressing procedures for withdrawal during the expulsion process.
