Facilities Report
Mr. KT was not present. His Facilities report will be deposited into the Board folder.
His main focus over the the last month was refreshing the school to ensure it is ready for the scholars to return. He has painted the walls and buffed the floors.
The unit that was requiring replacement has been delivered and is working to be installed this week.
B.
Enrollment & Marketing Report
We have 352 students that have indicated they will return and 20 new enrollment applications that are being worked on.
III. Curriculum & Assessment
A.
Opening of School
Presented by Dr. Grubbs
Dr. Grubbs is serving as the interim School Principal for the 2026-2027 school year.
- Staff meetings will be structured with different focal areas for each scheduled staff meeting as follows. Instruction is always the main focus throughout.
- 1st Wed of the Month: Staff Meeting
- 2nd Wed: Content Area
- 3rd Wed: School Improvement
- 4th Wed: Committee members meetings. The committees consist of MTSS, PBIS, Sunshine (improved morale), & House Committee

Culture Report - Reimagine Kestrel
Presented by Mr. T. McFadden
- The House Program will be implemented in different phases.
- The End Goal is to establish the foundation for a sustainable House System by the end of September 2026 via:
- Consistent LiveSchool implementation
- Scholar ownership and engagement
- Family partnerhship
- Staff implementation
- The overall goal is to build stronger school culture, develop leadership, and create a sense of belonging for all
- Mr. McFadden conducted a live training through LiveSchool.
- Phase 1: How to login to LiveSchool and Fidelity systems. Main success indicator is that LiveSchool becomes part of every classroom, every day. All points earned will automatically load into the live school system on behalf of the assigned House.
- Phases 2 & 3: Building scholar ownership and family engagement. Main success indicator is that students and families become active partners in recognizing and celebrating growth.
- Phases 4&5: Preparing for Launch. Decide on House branding colors and setup. Assignment of staff member to a House and finalize House roster. Prepare for official House Reveal at launch
- House System Document was also mentioned that outlines the process and can be accessed via link.
- Our ideal target launch/start date is return from Winter break
- The House committee consists of Mr. McFadden, Mrs Henderson, Mr. Allen, Ms Rains, Dr. Grubb, Ms. McNeil and Mrs. Jackson
IV. Operational Reports

Executive Director's Report - 2028 Charter Renewal Cohort
Mrs. Tonya Jackson reported on charter renewal process.
Presented by Mrs. Jackson
- Today is our official first day of all staff members being in the building
- Kestrel has started it's 2028 cohort for Charter renewal
- We are anticipating 352 students for re-enrollment
Charter Renewal Process
- We had 2 members that were part of the 2025 renewal process. This process usually takes a full 2 years to complete and consists of submitting the intent to renew, which was submitted last week. In the meantime, DPI is meeting with each Department such as Finance, Governance, Accountability and Federal Programs to ensure our meetings are conducted and info is submitted on time and in a compliant manner.
- Sep - Oct 2026: We will then work on Self Study and compliance
- Nov-Dec 2026: Renewal compliance focuses on governance, review of student discipline policy and our Board meeting minutes. We would have to submit our Charter application along with amendments in Epicenter by Nov 30, 2026 and submit the Board by-laws and board meeting minutes by Dec 31, 2026. Site visits will be scheduled.
- Jan - Jun 2027: The Renewal site visit will be conducted in the early spring 2027, where they will take a tour of the school, visit classrooms and conduct focus group Interviews. OCS will send feedback and then follow up on required action items
- July-October 2027: OcS creates DPI portfolio for each renewal school for the CSRB (Charter Schools Review Board)
- Nov 2027: CSRB renewal discussions and school presentations commence
- Dec 2027: CSRB renewal discussions and school presentations continue.
- Jan-Mar 2028: School business presentation on renewal school finances. CSRB votes on final renewal terms
- Apr - June 2028: Schools receive, sign, notarize, and return Charter Agreements. Superintendent signs and final copies are emailed.
- Our current Charter agreement was from July 1 2025 - June 30, 2028
- Compliance and submission on time is essential to the process.
- We also realize that we need to improve on Parent Engagement Activities

V. Committee Reports
A.
Board of Directors - Committee Structure
Finance Committee: Presented by A. Davis & Mr. J. Davis
Mr. Patterson will be stepping away from the Finance committee as the Treasurer to fully retire. Mr. Davis will be the new chair of the Finance committee.
- We reviewed the Finance Forecast for the upcoming year and it shows positive cash flow.
- Mrs Davis has submitted a proposal to partner further with Aspida for the upcoming school year.
Development Committee: Presented by A. Davis
- 1:1 meetings were conducted to discuss fundraising activities and the push for Our Table Initiative and through community engagement
- We plan to tie in volunteering efforts and continue to seek out grant opportunities
Community Engagement: Presented by A. Hernandez
- Mrs Hernandez and Ms Rhodes met two weeks ago to discuss our plans for the Grandparent Support Program.
- We do have flyers to share more information about the GS program and we plan to share details during our upcoming Open House Event. There will also be a QR code that can be scanned to take interested parties directly to a form to sign up
- We have started outreach to partner with agencies and we have the initial draft of our Community Outreach and Volunteer activities.This is a live document that will be shared with our community and allow us to market the activities on a continuous basis
Governance Committee Presented by Mr. D. Powe
- Mr. Powe's company matches donations, so he has started that process to determine how Kestrel can partner with them and other organizations in our community
- Mr. Powe has created partnership packages that can be shared with various potential partners in the community. He also has a list of various organizations that we can target and contact in our community.
- These informational packets will be shared with the Board
Board Committee Work, Presented by Mr. J. Jacks
- "Scholar Small Business" - we want to highlight small businesses inside of Kestrel. We will create a form to invite small business owners to complete so that we can highlight 2 local small business each month. We can all patronize those businesses each month and help promote their business throughout our community.
- We will use this information to build a Small Business Directory and allow those small businesses to have a table setup at a Show What You Know Scholar night and promote them along with our other programs. This will allow us to make connections and form partnerships with them.
Academic Excellence Committee, Presented by Mrs Q Henderson
Main focus has been helping to setup the Reimagine Kestrel Program. Our competitions will be centered around academic competitions mixed with fun, so we can continue to push academic excellence.

We discussed: A contractual Consultant Matter
We will also host our Back to School Bash during Open House. The event will occur in the gym consisting of vendors, a bouncy house, Coco Crissi icy truck, and face painting.
Mrs Tonya Jackson confirmed there are no changes to the agenda.
