Review Vision for 10/16 Board Meeting

VaLonda provided a high level overview of the 10/16 Board Meeting.

  • Committee discussed shift to have committee reports live in pre-read vs. in the main board meeting to prioritize classroom observations, committee member suggested some form of accountability measure to ensure committee members complete the pre work.

VaLonda provided overview on school wide focus areas and goals.

  • Committee members asked a question about Boston Prep's school year goals as it relates to students' current GPA and SGP data, suggested the school team provide current data compared to SY27 goals to ground the discussion with the full board on 10/16.

VaLonda previewed the walkthrough observation tool, asked committee for scaffolds they think the trustees will need to use this for their observations on 10/16

  • Committee member appreciated the transparency from the school team, suggested school team provide more scaffolds around the "excellence" portion of the walkthrough tool so trustees less familiar with instruction can understand appropriate grade level rigor.
  • Committee discussed what kind of classrooms trustees will see on their observations (exemplar vs work in progress).
  • Committee member also suggested the school team provide an overview of what coaches look for in an ideal Boston Prep classroom before we conduct observations on 10/16.
  • Committee member shared the importance of starting the 10/16 meeting with clear goals.
