The audit is still in progress, but it is going well; no surprises. We will have the audit report in November.

III. Development

A.

Development Committee Update

Larry Smith reviewed the Meet and Greet that happened on October 8th. We need to review who attended. Dr. Procope will provide the list of staff members who attended so that they can get a letter of thanks. The people who did not attend will receive a "sorry you missed it" note and be asked to attend next time. Brandon was asked some questions about how the money is used and what programs we have. In settings like that, we need a cheat sheet to ensure that board members are prepared.

We will use the RSVP list from Paperless Post to determine who attended and who did not. Going forward, we will have a guest sign-in list.  Larry will send out a guest list so people can indicate who attended.

The Ambassador Program was discussed. It was launched and announced. The board has not formalized it. We will send it out for comments and vote on it at the next meeting.

The committee's priority is a solicitation campaign for corporate giving. We need a tracking system to determine how we are doing. Our current goal is $100,000, and we will try to double that for this fiscal year.

Larry reached out to Mollet Green, who responded by inviting HUMS students to the Wizards' pep rally at Burr gym. She provided a contact person Larry can use to follow up on future events. Larry is getting the names of the right people at Pepco to support our STEM program.

IV. Governance

A.

DC Council Board Training Requirement

We have to complete a training for Charter Boards. K. Procope will provide information on the self-paced training program that we need to complete by April.

V. State of the School

A.

Overview of the School program

Dr. Pocope shared the school's status. DC Cape scores were reviewed, with an emphasis on needed improvements in mathematics and how the CLSD and EmpowerK12 grants will help improve our scores. Upcoming events include the December Math and Science Night, field trips to the Disney Science Camp, and the trip to Europe for the Language Acquisition students.  Chair Johns asked if resources were provided for the additional special education students and Dr. Procope said yes.

VI. Closing Items

A.

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 7:09 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
K. Procope
