Dr. Smith, we are in the middle of the year, and we are leaning into the preliminary work for next year. Daniel Sharples has begun recruiting for next year. Yesterday was the first day that the enrollment portal opened and so far we’ve had 189 people apply and select TSAS as one of their 6 choices, with about 57 students selecting TSAS as their first choice. The window will be open for about a month, and we expect to notify families towards the end of March. We held an open house last Thursday, and we had around 50–65 families to attend.  WIDA testing is approaching in early spring along with more spring assessments.  Advanced planning for next year is also underway.  Shaniece Randle and Jesse Stallings are working with the high school faculty to develop courses and class schedules for the 2026–2027 school year.  Jesse and I are also budget forecasting for next year, and aligning our forecasting with the hopeful purchase of the building this spring. Our financial audit is scheduled for January 27th. On Feb 4th, three board members will join me to attend a planning meeting to continue discussing next steps in the building purchase.

Dr. Hahn spoke about the testing that will take place in the spring. January 29th is our next Professional Learning Communities (PLC) meeting.  This meeting will be 4 hours during our PD day and we will discuss MAP data.  Peer-to-peer observations are still going on, and we have received positive responses from teachers.  Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on January 30th. The first week of February, Dr. Hahn, Daniel Sharples, two counselors and 4 teachers from middle and high school will attend a 4-day conference in D.C. with help from the OPSRC, we will be staying an extra day to visit schools with similar demographics to TSAS.  We are starting to identify and work with some granting entities to get funding for our Summer Symposium.  

Daniel Sharples announced all the Friends of TSAS leadership positions have been filled. Ryan Starkweather is the President, Megan Radford is the Vice President and Johan is the Treasurer.  Scott Grizzle will still assist the Friends of TSAS. On January 27th at 5:30p here in the Commons, the Friends of TSAS will hold a foundation meeting to discuss the utilization of funds for student projects.  Brianna Brown, the Student Counsel Coordinator, and the students will be pitching some ideas at that meeting and all are welcome to attend. The Friends of TSAS will send mailers this spring to solicit donations and there is an ongoing discussion about hosting a Bingo Night, though at the moment the details are TBA.

Dr. Smith announced Mrs. Gosvener is out ill and will present at the next meeting. 

Mr. Stallings gave a report on TSAS’s ability to remain financially stable. He also noted that both student and adult meal purchases have increased. 

The evaluation process for Dr. Smith was discussed.
