Call the Meeting to Order

U. Sayers called a meeting of the Governance Committee Committee of Miles Ahead Charter School to order on Thursday Oct 3, 2024 at 7:06 PM.

II. Governance Committee

A.

Committee Updates

No specific committee updates. All committee tasks completed in the short term. Two areas for upcoming months:

 

  1. Board training for new board members - given SCSC trainings are not until Spring 2025, we should look for some training from GCSC, SCSC, or Board on Track to offer new board members in the near term. Henry will take an action to see what available in the next two-three months.
  2. At the board meeting we discussed the bylaws and whether we need to make any adjustments regarding our K-8 designation given we do not currently have 6th - 8th grade. For now we will keep the by-laws as is but will update the strategic plan to reflect the addition of grades in the future, not in current years. We will wait until we have some key operational goals finalized before setting an updated timeline for expansion.
