Facilities Update

Hot Topic Items:
KNB shared the current transportation situation and barriers that BCC is facing. We currently have three active options:
1. Miller overcommitted contracts and can no longer service our route at the correct start and end times. They are able to run our route at 9:00AM and 4:00PM. They are short staffed and no longer have personnel to staff all routes.
2. TMT Consortium: TMT has partnered several schools together to attempt to operate group satellite routes. They are struggling to find drivers to run the routes.
3. Bus Drivers: BCC is trying to hire drivers to operate routes internally.

Summer school is still in session. ⅓ of our incoming freshmen are in attendance. Working on culture and academics for incoming scholars.
We’ve recently entered into a partnership with Milestone HR for HR support.
Facilities:
TMT gave BCC 350k for support with the building purchase. Current ask for building is 2.9 million, with TMT support we’ll come in at 2.6mil. TMT is also covering an additional 40k for CIES payment coverage. This is for the support provided with the building purchase/legal fees.
Bill K. is helping with a 5 year budget pro-bono.

KNB shared the State of BELIEVE Presentation with the board. She explained that the leadership team just reviewed this with new staff as well during PD. Highlights from State of BELIEVE:
  1. Boys GPA ended stronger than where it was all year. Girls in a positive place.
  2. Lexile Growth: No loss, which is a win in the year of COVID. Scholars were tested for quantile at mid-semester. Nothing to track this against.
  3. SAT Data: Scholars took the SAT, not PSAT. PSAT is a watered down version. KNB shared a comparison to Noble network in Chicago and other Indy Schools.
  4. ECA: BCC is above state average for black students.
  5. Culture: Reviewed data around points given over the past year, breakdown of scholar status, data for parent communications/touch points, and attendance data (92% for the year!! winning!!)

Enrollment 21-22: 142 students; still in enrollment full force but sitting comfortably
Finance: Ended the year with 500k in reserve; above expectations for authorizers
