Attendance
We have completed 4/6 cycles and average 93.75%. Illness has been a factor in a decrease, but Truancy Prevention Program has be helping. Ms. Lewis is checking into a waiver for cold days attendance, but we may not be eligible as attendance must be 10% lower for the days.
C.
Staffing
We remain at 100% staffing with no issues.
D.
Truancy Prevention Program
1. There are not as many families in the program as some have 'graduated' out with improved performance and no new families have been added.
2. The benefits of this program are much more than was expected. Data support that increased attendance rates have increased by tens of thousands of dollars our funding from the state.
But a serendipitous benefit is that it has strongly and positively affected the culture of the school in accountability and the stress on academics, as well as teachers being more satisfied with students being more present for lessons.
1. We are in the middle of TELPAS testing (English proficiency progress monitoring for English learners). This score is part of TEA school accountability rating. Last year we didn't have enough students to quality for a rating.
2. We received one of the three LASO 3 grants we applied for (literacy). This will bring in $120,000. This will support continued support from Lavinia group for teachers. Since so many schools applied for the math grant, more monies may be available and we may receive math support.
3. We have been asked if we are applying again for the Summer Boost Program (funded by Blumberg and local support). We can apply for funding enough to support 1/3 of our school enrollment (about45 students). If received, we will use a Lavinia summer program curriculum (reading and math) that comes with coaching. Stipulations are that there be a pre-post test and funding is attendance-dependent. We have not had issues with attendance in the past as parents are informed upon application of attendance requirement. We will also provide after-school care.
