Dr. Denise Miner-Williams called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Prelude Prep to order on Tuesday Mar 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM.

Approve Minutes
Lauren Lewis made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 01-09-24.
Dr. Denise Miner-Williams seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

Attendance
Attendance dropped to 90.3% (from 93%) largely due to winter illness.
Truancy Prevention Program is remaining very helpful.

Enrollment and Recruitment
Current enrollment 134, with 109 in grades k-4. Largest class is K with 42 students
B.
Staffing
Staffing issues are greatly decreased this year.
Early part of year the professional development focused on behavioral issues and classroom management, but now the stronger focus is on academics.

CEO comments
Ms. Lewis expressed that this is not where she wants the school to be, but it is not unexpected.
Much progress has been made in student behaviors and academics, but there is much more to be made.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 12:45 PM.

Academic achievement according to testing is below our expectations. The two Kindergartens are with students at 53% and 67% at benchmark; 1st and 2nd grades are at 32% and 36% according to MCLASS testing. Our goal was 70%.
For 3rd and 4th grades: Reading 21% Math and Language 13% at 60 percentile or greater. Targeted interventions are being employed, with all staff including the principal and CEO assisting with small group teaching.
