The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

State of School report

State of the School report discussed by L. Lewis.

B.

Staffing

Staffing remains the same. Still seeking a SpEd teacher.

Staff attendance and timeliness is better than last year. The principal recently sent out individual letters with PTO status as well as reminder about dress code. There was a noted improvement with dress code subsequently.

C.

Dyslexia Law update

We treat dyslexia within SpEd guidelines so there will not be much change for us.

CEO Comments

1. 1st grade has been split to help with severe behavioral issues, which seems to be helping. It is suspected that academic achievement will be rather good once behavior allows it.

2. 2nd grade has such a wide range of learning gap levels that whole class teaching is not very effective, and small groups are challenging due to behavior. A micro-grant request has been submitted (results by EOM Oct) to enable the targeted intervention of using the format from summer school which entails hiring 2 teacher aides.

3. MCLASS may be administered again to monitor progress of interventions so that both achievement and growth may be seen.

4. The K grade is our only "non-COVID" class, i.e. who never had loss of school time due to Covid.

5. Good attendance is a result of a staff member dedicated to interacting with parents immediately, as well as attendance parties for the children.

6. Ms. Lewis continues to work with small groups in 3rd grade every day to improve achievement.

III. Other Business

A.

Recruitment

Current enrollment is 138, with promises of others transferring over to us. It is hopeful that we will meet the 50% enrollment increase by EOM Oct to meet Title I standards.

Some students being admitted may meet SpEd requirements.

IV. Closing Items

A.

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 1:14 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
Dr. Denise Miner-Williams
