Academic Growth Testing Results

Overall, we are seeing growth in students, which is positive; However, achievement is not yet at desired levels. MAP Growth measures student progress over time. Students were tested in Reading, Math, and Language (which includes critical thinking and is Grades 2-5). Students are compared to national growth norms for one school year. Growth is categorized into the following groups:

  • Low Growth (Below Typical)
  • Typical Growth (Meets Expectations)
  • High Growth (Exceeds Expectations)
  1. Language: 43% of students achieved above-typical growth; 40% scored below the 40th percentile for growth. This reflects strong upward movement for a portion of students, but also low growth for others.
  2. Math: 43% of students demonstrated high growth; 38% fell below the 40th percentile.
  3. Reading: 43% of students are above 60th percentile indicating promising progress; 40% are in the 20-40th percentiles.
  4. We are still awaiting STAAR data.

III. Other Business

A.

enrollment

1. Goal for enrollment for 2025-26 is to gain 100 students (total 250).

2. Brackenridge has financed a nonprofit, Families Empowered (a school choice organization), which will implement a call campaign for enrollment. They intend to make 200 contacts based on zip codes provided by Prelude.

1. Attendance rate was consistent with last year at 94%. Cycle 1 and 2 are good, then illness sets in.

2. Goal is 96%.

3.Truancy Tribunal:  Data is being analyzed to identify students referred to Tribunal as to being those new to Prelude vs. those who have started with Prelude.

C.

Staffing

1. We are losing our 1st grade teacher due to salary concerns. He was new to teaching from a much higher-paying profession.
