Call the Meeting to Order

B. Grimes called a meeting of the board of directors of Liberty Grove Schools to order on Wednesday Nov 20, 2024 at 12:08 PM.

Approve Minutes

D. Val made a motion to approve the minutes from October 2024 Full Board Meeting on 10-23-24.
N. Candis seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

Governance Committee Report

  • Board Goals
  • Open Enrollment 
  • Projected enrollment
  • Attendance 
  • Staffing Updates
  • Fall Survey sent out to staff
  • Facility Updates positive and negatives
  • Retention of the board for next year - 2 spots are available
  • Meeting flow - feeling on the time of the board meeting.  Once per quarter shift to the evening for parent engagement.  Committee meetings will stay virtual
  • School Calendar changes  - virtual days and technology access days in the latter part of the year
  • Upcoming Events
  • OEI - New board Member boot camp with RISE - December 7th  9am-1pm.  Can still sign up.  J. Mosley will go

Finance Committee Report

  • Strong financial position
  • Enrollment and funding - new cost structure
  • Audit was completed - Followup today at 2:00pm - Preliminary was sent out - time error with form 9 due in mid-summer and funding comes in late summer.  Timing will be an on-going issue.
  • Financial Policy was sent out - Enrollment figures and change
  • CIES and how they classify items  
  • New credit cards for the school
  • Cash flow

Academics Committee Report

  • Growth trends in LGS
  • Proficency numbers are not where we want them to be but when compared to alike groups LGS  is right there or above.
  • Interventions and implementation
  • Indiana Learns - $1000 for tutoring services 4-6 grade start in January - transportation barriers/on-line and possible hot spots being used if number is not to high
  • Ready Lions Academy - 3rd Grade
  • 2nd grade is involved with testing 
  • School Leadership and staffing update - New Principals Mrs. Walker and Ms. Moore
  • Student Led Conferences - Good Turnout
  • Teacher and Staff Survey Results - positive
  • J. Mosley will reach out to partners for staff survey help
  • Points -students moving toward success
  • Grade-Level Leadership

Nov. 2024 School Updates

  • Enrollment down
  • Enrollment Plan
  • Working with a marketing person about recruitment
  • K-2
  • 3-6 
  • Rolling into 7th grade  - Not enough interest right now
  • Trying to still have small classrooms

Organizational and Operational Updates

  • Good Feedback on instructional rounds
  • OEI visit and feedback-M. Harbour will share findings with board
  • IPS visit and feedback-Possible survey creation to help LGS grow
  • Staffing updates - Principal announcement
  • 4-6 grade interventionist needed
  • Construction projects are winding down
  • Contractor issues with lack of security/noise and fumes
