II. Accountability

Review Timeline of Data

The team discussed the overall schedule for the FY. We agreed that October would include a data presentation on STAR, Dibels, and MCAS, with MCAS being disaggregated. STAR and DIBELS will be presented, disaggregated, in February. Confirmed no planned meeting in December. Discussed using November meeting to begin mapping out content/structure of the staff survey.

Hannah questioned if it was worth presenting STAR/DIBELS fall scores. Jeff L said that having that data in comparison to the prior two years of data would be helpful to know where the year was beginning.

Jeff L proposed moving the staff survey up to January. Kristin argued that was too early, and instead prefers to run the Staff Survey in April, but supplement the survey with targeted monthly questions that are funneled through the staff liaison as a way of picking up real-time, actionable feedback.  All agreed this was a good idea.

In regards to the FY26 Family Survey, Nic agreed to take on the responsibility of working with the response data. Kristin will send Nic the data, and Jeff L will send Nic information to provide context and give direction on the type of results we are looking for.

B.

Accountability Plan

Jeff L stressed that Board Members needed to be constantly presented with the Accountability plan, that it is a driving document for the school and needs to be more in the board consciousness. Hannah agreed to present snapshot looks at AP progress in both September and Aprl.

C.

Meeting Calendar

Jeff L addressed whether or not the meeting schedule could be adapted to accommodate a scheduling conflict. Meeting, starting in September, will be tentatively shifted to Wednesday.

There will be no meeting in August.

III. Other Business

A.

Nicolas Williamson - Board Candidate

J. Landry made a motion to Add Nicolas as a member of the Board of Trustees.
J. Hood seconded the motion.

Scott and Andy joined the meeting meet Nicolas Williamson, a candidate for the Board. Nicolas introduced himself, as he did in the June Board Meeting, and expressed his desire to join the board as a former HVM student and recent graduate who experience in data analytics. Nic is eager to give back to his school community. He has experience in non-profit work with MASSPIRG and Hunger-Free Campus.

Scott and Andy both asked numerous questions of Nicolas. Scott asked if Nic has experience in governance and long-term projects, to which Nic cited his experience with MASSPIRG, and that he is accustomed to working with teams. Andy stressed that the Board doesn't really need data analytics, but instead needs guidance and critical thinking, and Nic responded that data is more than spreadsheets and tables - its a narrative, and there is a skill in crafting a compelling story around data. Jeff L pointed out that skill could be useful in terms of providing material for development to work with. Andy also asked about Nic's experience in influencing people in collab setting. Nic referenced with most recent Data Analytics comp where he put aside selfish interests to rally his team to come together and work the problem as a team.

After Nic left the meeting, the team discussed his candidacy. Jeff L and Jeff H stressed that his skillset was a real need for the board, and that he was eager to be involved. Scott and Andy raised initial questions about Nic's light experience, but were ultimately won over by his enthusiasm, intelligence, and energy. The board voted unanimously to welcome Nic to the Board.

The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
