The committee reviewed MCAS data in detail. 69% met/exceeded in ELA (17% higher than the state) while 72% met/exceeded in Math (23% higher than the state). These scores place the school in the top 10% of school performance in the state. The school’s 4th-grade cohort in ELA performed in the top 8% of the state and in the top 4% of districts in Math. The 3rd-grade cohort also performed well, exceeding state averages in both Math and ELA (ranking in the top 21% and 42% respectively).
The committee discussed the key drivers of the school’s performance last school year. The committee highlighted areas for growth for this school year, including the school’s Students with Disabilities subgroup. The committee reviewed student growth data - the 4th grade Math SGP ranked in the top 3% of districts and the 4th grade ELA SGP raked in the top 20% of districts. The committee reviewed the performance of historically underserved subgroups. The committee discussed how to present results to the larger board: historically underserved groups, year-over-year performance, state accountability report, and naming the School of Recognition achievement. Sherriff will present these results to the full board at the October board meeting.
