B. Pickett reported that One City Preschool is off to a smooth start for the year. The preschool has experienced minimal staff turnover in recent years, which has provided consistency for families and enabled experienced staff members to assume greater leadership responsibilities.
A. Ogunniyi and H. Brandt reminded board members of One City's priority to provide a positive, inspiring and joyful school culture. The first three weeks of the school year were dedicated to building strong relationships and establishing a joyful, predictable community. Scholars learned and practiced routines and procedures grounded in our five habits of character. To deepen belonging and relationships, staff began making positive phone calls home to strengthen connections with caregivers.
G. Wiseman shared the following updates:
CFO Search: One City has contracted with DeRonda Williams of the DWG Group, a national, Black woman-owned executive search firm recognized for cultivating diverse, high-caliber candidate pools. The firm specializes in placing CFOs and COOs across nonprofit, education, and social impact sectors.
Interim Financial Support: As the search for a Chief Financial Officer continues, One City is working with Charter School Business Management (CSBM) to provide interim support. CSBM offers extensive financial expertise, accounting services, training, and back-office support delivered by a team of finance and accounting professionals.
Community Event: G. Wiseman reminded board members about the September 26th community event, which will honor community members and unveil the newly wrapped school vans. The marketing grant that made this branding project possible was highlighted, and all board members are encouraged to attend.
