The Board will contemplate a MOTION to adjourn into executive (closed) session pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes under Section 19.85(1) (f) and (g) for the purpose of conferring with the Board’s legal counsel, who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by Board with respect to an employee complaint; and (e) and (f) for the purpose of discussing the financial history of donors and strategies for the investment of funds, which if discussed in public would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the individual donors.

Board members will vote to move to open session.

The Board will vote to approve the draft minutes from the June 2023 regular meeting.

Board members will review and vote to approve the financial statements from June 2023.

Treasurer Torrey Jaeckle will review the financial statements from June 2023. 

We are very excited to introduce Mr. Ayodeji Ogunniyi, who joined One City Schools as our first Middle School Director on June 28th. 

Mr. Ogunniyi will lead our 5th through 8th grades, beginning with 5th through 7th during the 2023-24 school year and adding 8th grade in 2024-25. Ayo will report to the CEO and will serve as a member of our Executive Team. 

Mr. Ogunniyi is a distinguished educator who comes to One City from the Chicagoland area where he has spent more than 15 years as a teacher and administrator in education, primarily at the secondary level (grade 6 - 12). His life's work has been to re-imagine the outcomes of public education for underserved youth so they can live prosperous, generous and impactful lives as adults.

Department Updates are attached to the agenda for Board Members to review. 

Updates from several department heads will be shared at this meeting.

L. Holiday, VP of Government Relations and Chief of Staff will share updates on our advocacy work, final numbers after the signing of the FY 2023-2025 Budget and what they mean for One City. 

M. Ruffin, VP of Family and Scholar Engagement/Registrar, will share updated enrollment numbers, plans for increasing enrollment for the 2023-24 school year, and our new enrollment video.

N. Fees, Chief Talent Officer, will provide an update on staffing, including the number of offers that have been extended, the number of returning staff, and plans for onboarding and retention. 

Dr. Wray will share remarks pertaining to board accomplishments and the work of the One City Board of Directors moving forward. 

Chair Wray will share his view of what the One City Board has accomplished during his 5-year tenure as Chair. Chair Wray will also lead a discussion around suggestions and thoughts about the future of One City's Board.
