The Board will vote to approve the draft minutes from the November 2022 regular meeting.

 
II. Thank You to Departing Board Members 4:04 PM
 

Three members completed their service with One City Schools Board of Directors at the end of December 2022.

 

One City staff and Board members would like to recognize these three outstanding individuals for their contributions to One City Schools. 

 

Ms. Salli Martyniak, who has been a critical member of One City since its inception, is continuing to support OCS as a member of the Finance Committee. Ms. Martyniak has been instrumental in bringing the dream of One City to fruition. 

 

Ms. Wajiha Ahktar, parent member who has provided invaluable insight and contributions to the board and to our schools. Wajiha will continue to serve as a member of the Parent Council.

 

Ms. Catherine Zdeblick, who has contributed to One City in nearly every way possible: as a board member, as a donor and as a volunteer, and who will continue to support the school through volunteer activities.

III. Introduction of Board of Directors Nominee Ms. Maddy Niebauer 4:14 PM
 

The Board will be asked to approve appointment of Ms. Niebauer to the One City Board of Directors.

Madeleine (Maddy) Niebauer, a founding Board member of One City Schools, will return, upon Board approval, to our Board of Directors in January or February 2023. Ms. Niebauer came off the Board when we transitioned from a developing Board to a sustaining Board in 2018. Ms. Niebauer founded, V-Chief, one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States. She resides in Madison and is excited to rejoin our Board. IV. November 2022 Financial Statement Review and Approval 4:19 PM
 

The Board will review and vote to approve the financial statement from November 2022.

Treasurer Torrey Jaeckle and Alice Torti, One City CFO will review the financial statements from November 2022. Board members will be asked to vote to approve the financials.

 
V. Presentation from Ms. Carrie Stewart of Afton Partners 4:29 PM
 

We will hear from Ms. Stewart of Afton Partners Afton Partners, on the topic of Charter School Financial Governance.

Afton partners with state education agencies and public school districts nationwide on funding policy and fiscal transparency initiatives. Our work propels equitable public funding allocation and resource transparency so hundreds of thousands of students have access to high-quality education that meets their needs.

 

Carrie Stewart, co-founder of Afton Partners, will walk us through charter school finance, and explain how charter schools are funded, generally and in specific states.

Written reports are shared with board members. Board members should reach out to Department Heads, CEO or staff secretary to the board with any questions. 

 
VII. Closed Session of the One City Schools Board of Directors 5:29 PM
 

The Board will vote to move to closed session. The meeting will adjourn from closed session as no vote will be taken during this part of the meeting.

The Board will vote to move to closed session, according to WI open meeting law, "A meeting may be convened in closed session under one or more of the exemptions provided in s. 19.85: (f) Considering financial, medical, social or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where par. (b) applies which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories or data, or involved in such problems or investigations. 

 

The Board will discuss financial data, and may consider some specific personnel and contract concerns.
