  A. Approve the appointment of Dominic Ledesma to the One City Board of Directors Vote Noble Wray 10 m
   
Board members will be asked to vote on  prospective member of the Board, Dr. Dominic Ledesma.

 

Dr. Ledesma will serve as the 3rd parent member on the One City Board. His daughter is in her second year of attendance at our preschool. 

Dr. Ledesma is the Interim Director, Office of Access, Inclusion, and Compliance at University of Wisconsin-Extension. He is an organizational strategist for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

 

Dr. Ledesma's administrative experience and scholarship includes specific focus on language rights, language access policies and practices, and issues of communicative equity.

Suggested motion: The One City Board of Directors approves Dominic Ledesma as a Board director with his first term beginning on October 26, 2021 and ending on October 27, 2024. 
 
III. One City Parent Board Member Input 4:14 PM

One City Schools has a strong foundation of active and engaged parents. Parent representatives who serve on One City's Board of Directors will have the opportunity to share an update with the Board on behalf of the One City parent-led Parent Council. 

 

Parent Board Members Ms. Toya Pedracine-Stewart and Dr. Wajiha Akhtar-Khaleel will present/lead the discussion, including a report on the monthly Parent Council meeting.

  A. Review and Approve One City's September 2021 Financial Report Vote T.Jaeckle, L.Lange, CEO 15 m
   
Leah Lange of Numbers 4 Nonprofits has prepared One City's September 2021 financial statements.

One City Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair, Torrey Jaeckle will present the statements and provide a review of our current financial performance, with support from Ms. Lange. The Board will discuss and then vote to approve the financial statements. 
 
V. CEO Update and August 2021 Organizational Report 4:39 PM

  B. One City Student Enrollment Update for the 2021-22 School Year FYI M.Ruffin 10 m
   
We continue to strive for full enrollment for the 2021-22 school year. As of October 24th, a total of  230 students are enrolled in One City Elementary School. This compares to our budgeted plan of 278 students enrolled in OCES. We also have 102 students on the waitlist for 4K, 5K and first grade.

Additionally, we have 44 students enrolled in our 2-year-old and 3-year-old preschool classrooms. This brings our total enrollment at One City Schools to 274 children. We will share more details about our enrollment activities and how we have adjusted our budget to these enrollment numbers for the 2021-22 school year. 
 
 
  C. Staffing Updates FYI David Stephan 5 m
   
Candidates for two open positions, Director of Finance and Human Resources Manager are being interviewed. D. Stephan will share our interview process with the Board.

 



 
 
  D. Secondary School Planning Updates FYI Devon Davis 20 m
   
One City Secondary School Principal, Ms. Devon Davis, will update board members on the status of the development of One City Preparatory Academy (OCPA), our new grades 6 - 12 public charter school that will open in our new 1707 Broadway facility in fall 2022. 
 
  E. Facilities Update David Stephan 20 m
   
One City Chief Operating Officer, D. Stephan will provide Board members with an update on renovations to the facility and next steps.
 
  F. Fundraising Update Kaleem Caire and Gail Wiseman 10 m
   
Kaleem Caire, CEO and Gail Wiseman, VP of External Relations will share an update on fundraising efforts to date and plans for the months of November and December. 
 
  G. Policy and Advocacy Update FYI Kaleem Caire and Fern Knepp 10 m
   
One City CEO Kaleem Caire will provide an update about the work the organization is doing on policy advocacy and the progress we are making. We have been invited to submit for grants to two organizations to support our efforts.
