  B. One City Student Enrollment Update for the 2021-22 School Year FYI M.Ruffin 10 m

One City began promoting opportunities for families to enroll their children in One City's preschool and elementary school for the 2021-22 school year on February 1, 2021. We hosted four Open Houses in February: two for the preschool and two for the elementary school. We continue to host Virtual School Tours for interested families.

Marilyn Ruffin, One City's VP of Family and Community Initiatives, and our Registrar, will provide an update to the Board on our enrollment numbers for the 2021-22 school year, and will share what our activities will be to fill all remaining seats at One City's Elementary School. Note: We will enroll 2 and 3-year-olds in our preschool and 4K through 4th graders in our elementary school during the next school year.

Please Note:
  • Parents were able to enroll their children in One City online this year, and will be able to complete registration online as well.
  • Our "Open" Enrollment Period began on Monday, March 1, 2021 and ended on Friday, March 19, 2021.
  • Three grade levels (4K, 5K and 1st grade) will require a lottery for us to complete enrollment.
  • The Lottery will take place virtually on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Parents will be invited to join the lottery live online via Zoom at 12pm central time. All children selected for enrollment will receive their official written notification via email on Thursday, March 25, 2021. A paper letter will also be sent to their homes. All children not selected will be placed on our wait list in the order that their name was drawn in the lottery. Parents will have the option of whether or not to place their children on the waitlist.
  • Note: Our 4K classrooms will remain at One City Preschool because of the young age level of the children and because the educational program (Anji Play) is the same for ages 2 through 4 (4-year-old kindergarten).
