The Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) outlines the school’s coordinated, evidence‑based system for preventing death and disability from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) on campus. This plan fulfills all requirements of Senate Bill 278 – The Smart Heart Act, G.S. 115C‑375.25, and G.S. 115C‑47(70), ensuring that Haliwa‑Saponi Tribal School maintains a rapid, effective, and legally compliant response to cardiac emergencies.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that students with diabetes receive safe, appropriate, and legally compliant care during the school day and during all school‑sponsored activities. Haliwa‑Saponi Tribal School supports full participation of students with diabetes and complies with all applicable North Carolina laws governing medication administration, emergency care, and student self‑management.
