In-person Meeting Return: Governor Abbott’s March 2020 order temporarily suspending certain provisions of the Open Meetings Act due to the COVID-19 pandemic disaster expired August 31, 2021. Consequently, TCA+A Board Meetings will return to in-person meetings at Texas School of the Arts.

Charles Reid made a motion to approve Wealth Management & Trust Accounts Authority Resolution.
Melissa Goodroe seconded the motion.

TeSA Budget Amendments

Mary A. Zimmerman made a motion to approve TeSA Budget Amendments subject to Grant clarification.
Cheryl Bean seconded the motion.
  • Anika Perkins reported TeSA is projected to finish with a positive $3,985.00
  • Mr. Wellbaum asked for clarification on grant revenues and expenditures
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

D.

FWAFA Budget Amendments

Cheryl Bean made a motion to approve FWAFA Budget Amendments subject to Grant clarification.
Michael Wellbaum seconded the motion.
  • Anika Perkins reported FWAFA is projected to finish with a negative $92,925.00
  • Mr. Wellbaum and Mr. Bates asked for clarification on grant revenues and expenditures
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

E.

TCA+A Budget Amendments

Mary A. Zimmerman made a motion to approve TCA+A Budget Amendments subject to further fundraising information.
Melissa Goodroe seconded the motion.
  • Anika Perkins reported TCA+A is projected to finish with a positive $191,058.00
  • Mr. Bates asked for clarification regarding fundraising revenues and expenditures
  • Mrs. Goodroe asked for fundraising reports starting in 2015 to current
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

VII. Academics

A.

Bilingual Exeption and ESL Waiver

Anika Perkins reported:

  • FWAFA
    • waiver for 3 teachers who are not ESL certified
    • also FWAFA put a plan in place to help these teachers obtain cerfication
  • TeSA
    • waiver for 3 teachers who are not ESL certified
    • also TeSA put a plan in place to help these teachers obtain cerfication

VIII. Parent Organization Reports

A.

TBC Parent Club

Jennifer Roby - TBC Parent Club President:

  • Highlights from Paris trip
    • sang at a former US Ambassor's daughter's wedding
    • performed at the American Embassy
    • held a concert with the Paris Boys Choir
    • the trip was featured on Channel 5 News
  • Upcoming Christmas Concerts
    • there are 11 coming up events
    • the boys will also do their annual performance on WRR 101.1 Radio Station
  • Honor Choirs
    • 3 boys (2 Seniors and 1 Freshman) have made it the final rounds of All-State Choir
    • 8 boys were accepted into the Southwest American Choral Directors Association's Honors Choir 
      • 11,000 students auditioned from 7 different states
      • only 600 were accepted and of those 8 were TBC members

  • 2023-2024 current enrollment
    • TeSA - 333 students
    • FWAFA - 651 students
  • Virtual Open House on November 30, 2023

  • Holiday Concerts and Performances
    • TeSA
      • December 7th at 5:30pm TeSA Stars Showcase which includes an Art Show, a Discovery Fair, and a Book Fair
    • FWAFA
      • December 1 & 2 at 7pm Dance Company performance
      • December 5 at 6pm & 7:30pm CCT Concert
      • December 15 & 16 at 7:00pm Showcase Performance of Honk, Jr. 
      • December 18 at 6pm SGT Concert at Birchman Baptist Church
      • December 19 at 7pm Visual Art exhibit
      • December 19 at 7pm TBC Concert at Broadway Baptish Church
