Texas Center for Arts + Academics is the charter holder of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA).

Call the Meeting to Order
Melissa Goodroe called a meeting of the board of directors of Texas Center for Arts + Academics to order on Tuesday Jan 14, 2020 at 6:09 PM.

- There were no public comments
III. Finance
A.
Presentation of FY2019 Audit
- Ted Neeb, CPA walked the board through the FY2019 audit report
- There were no findings
- Mr. Neeb congratulated Finance Director, Janelle Grau and her team for a completely clean audit
Leslie Scott made a motion to approve FY2019 audit.
Mary A. Zimmerman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Charles Reid made a motion to approve the minutes from TCAA Board Meeting on 11-19-19.
Daniel Bates seconded the motion.

V. Parent Club Updates
A.
TeSA PTO
- K-1st grade are hosting a Family Valentine Dance for all TeSA families on February 7th
- Candy Grams will be on sale from February 3rd - 13th and delivered on the 14th

FWAFA PTSO
- No report
C.
TBC Parent Club
- TBC wrapped up a successful Christmas performance season
- Plans for their World Choir Games trip are firming up
- TBC Banquet is May 2, 2020
- Preliminary planning has started for TBC's 75th Anniversary in 2021
VI. Leadership and Administration
A.
TeSA January Open House Update
- TeSA's January 2020 Open House attendance was up approximately 60% from November 2019's Open House
- 34 Families attended with 35 students
- K- 20 students; 1st- 3 students; 2nd- 7 students; 3rd- 2 students; 4th- 2 students; 5th- 1 student; 6th- 0 students
- The majority of families (11) learned of the Open House through a friend
VII. Resource Development
A.
Resource Development
- Communications team is working on re-branding materials
- There will not be a Gala but a Spring Event of some kind will take place
- A Spring Event Committee has been formed which includes teachers, parents, and staff
- Received $50K from Sid Richardson Foundation for enhancements/renovations of FWAFA Theatre
- Received $45K from Amon Carter Foundation for technology
VIII. Team Impact: Conservatories and Community
A.
Conservatories and Community
- Board members are asked to help add members to the Advisory Council
- April 15, 2020 at 6 pm is the next Advisory Council meeting
- Dance Conservatory is doing well
- Community Boys Choir has 6 boys participating
- Student interns were recommended to help in the Art Conservatory like they do in Dance Conservatory
IX. Team Impact: Academies
A.
Academies
- Enrollment numbers at both campuses are down
- Mrs. Texada has applied for a $25K Security Grant from TEA for each campus
- the funds will be used to 'harden' the schools' security
- Ft. Worth ISD is selling some of their properties
- The committee asked Mrs. Texada to look into 3 of these properties
