Texas Center for Arts + Academics is the charter holder of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA).

Call the Meeting to Order

Melissa Goodroe called a meeting of the board of directors of Texas Center for Arts + Academics to order on Tuesday Jan 15, 2019 at 6:14 PM.

II. Finance

A.

Presentation of FY2018 Audit

Mr. Neeb went through final audit report for FY2018.
Leslie Scott made a motion to approve the final audit report.
Michael Wellbaum seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Mary A. Zimmerman made a motion to approve consent agenda.
Linda Metcalf seconded the motion.

Mary A. Zimmerman made a motion to approve minutes from the TCAA Board Meeting on 11-27-18 TCAA Board Meeting on 11-27-18.
Linda Metcalf seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

TBC Parent Club

  • Performance on Friday, Harvard Glee Club at Broadway Baptist
  • TBC will perform on Good Morning Texas January 24th between 9am - 10am on Channel 
  • Ramping up fundraising efforts to help with tour cost / Looking for TBC raffle prize donations
  • TBC will be performing around town to promote open enrollment
  • Annual Banquet in April
  • May 10, 2019 Spring Concert

FWAFA Policy for Valedictorian/Salutatorian Honors

Daniel Bates made a motion to approve policy change.
Mary A. Zimmerman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

VII. Leadership & Administration

A.

Chief Academic Officer Report

  • Mr. Wellbaum shared Mrs. Texada's recommendation report from TeSA's Safety Committee for car line pickup procedure changes.

CEO Report

  • No Report due to Mr. Riley's absence. 

VIII. Development

A.

Resource Development

Resource Development Committee
  • Confirmed co-chairs:Dufrenes and Anfins
  • Dropping invites in the mail next week for Gala
  • Received over $28K in sponsorships; $20K in in-kind donations

IX. Strategic Plan Committee Reports

A.

Impact Team: Academies

  • Leasing a space is proving difficult but we are still looking
  • Cost to build a permanent building is outside what we are comfortable spending
  • Shifting focus to more on Fundraising

B.

Impact Team: Conservatories and Community

TBC @ TeSA

Dance Conservatory
  • 87 students 
  • Summer programming
Art Conservatory
  • plan to launch on March 25, 2019
