Texas Center for Arts + Academics is the charter holder of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA).

Charles Reid made a motion to approve Consent Agenda.

Charles Reid made a motion to approve minutes from the Special Session Board Meeting on 10-23-18 Special Session Board Meeting on 10-23-18.

FWAFA PTSO
- Beautification Committee Fundraiser Update- approximately $1,600 was raised to plant flowers in FWAFA's flower beds towards the end of January 2019
- Fundraising - Family Dance & Candle Sales- considering doing the Family Dance next year as a social gathering in lieu of a fundraiser; candle sales results were half targeted goal
- Pop Up Resale to help Parents during Winter Months
- Speaker Series - Going Strong - looking at bringing in someone to speak about depression and anxiety and someone to speak with parents on how charter schools are run
- New Coffee with the PTSO President proposed
- PTSO Directory printed and ready to distribute

V. Finance
A.
First Financial Management Reports
Janelle Grau, Finance Director, presented TeSA and FWAFA's First Financial Management Reports. These will be posted to the schools' websites.

Petty Cash Policy
Daniel Bates made a motion to approve the Petty Cash Policy, amended as discussed.
Charles Reid seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
VI. Academic
A.
TeSA Charter Amendment
Michael Wellbaum made a motion to approve the new language recommended by TEA.
Mary A. Zimmerman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
B.
FWAFA Charter Amendment
Michael Wellbaum made a motion to approve the new language recommended by TEA.
Mary A. Zimmerman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
C.
FWAFA Policy for Valedictorian/Salutatorian Honors
Daniel Bates made a motion to table the vote until January 2019 meeting to allow Mrs. Texada time to have the Site Based Committee review the proposed changes.
Michael Wellbaum seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
VII. Leadership & Administration
A.
Chief Academic Officer Report
Mrs. Texada relayed information from the meeting held with TeSA parents and Edgecliff Village Mayor Rigney regarding traffic concerns, and the parents' request that the road in front of TeSA be zoned a school zone.
B.
CEO Report
Mr. Riley updated everyone on Leadership Development and the Recruitment Task Force.
- Leadership Development- John Wright with Simple Leadership Strategies has worked with both TeSA and FWAFA's leadership and administration since May 2018.
- Leadership team conducted a staff Culture Survey (Gallup Q-12) in May 2018 to use as a baseline.
- Mr. Riley is now in the process of doing a second round of this survey as a one-on-one meeting with every staff member.
- Recruitment Task Force Committee- A recruitment task force team, consisting of teachers, administration, and leadership from both campuses has been working on ramping up and improving the admission process.
VIII. Development
A.
Quarterly Development Status
Mrs. King-Acker gave an update on organization donations and sponsorships. These are tracking below where they were last year at the same time. The Resource and Development Committee plans to identify more sponsors and foundations for the organization.
B.
The Arts Gala 2019: Masquerade
Gala needs to raise $190,000.00 to reach budget goal. It is April 6, 2019 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. We continue to need more table sales and sponsorship connections.
IX. Strategic Plan Committee Reports
A.
Impact Team: Academies
Mr. Wellbaum gave a committee update.
- InSite presented two properties as potential sites for a new TeSA build. Halbach Dietz Architects gave feedback on both properties. The property located in Mansfield is not favorable due to size and configuration of the land. The Arlington site has potential.
- The committee also asked Mrs. Texada to circle back and reach out to churches as a possible lease option for a new TeSA instead of building.
- The committee will bring more information to the board as it is available.
B.
Impact Team: Conservatories and Community
In Mr. King's absence Mr. Riley gave committee update.
Within the Conservatories and Community objectives in the strategy plan there is Thought Leadership under the communication and shared vision, advisory council, TBC after school program, the Dance Conservatory as well as launching the Art Conservatory after school programs

- We are close to launching an online presence and distribution of our Thought Leadership. We are working on editorial content to be able to work three months out.
- The Advisory Council would be members of the community who can advocate for the organization and offer resources we don't currently have within the organizational structure. Members would include leaders in academia, arts, business, etc.
- TBC @ TeSA launched in September and has 20 students in grades K-6. They are premiering their first performance at Broadway Baptist in January.
- Texas Dance Conservatory saw a 16% increase in students this semester. Currently there are 87 students enrolled in about 125 classes.
- Texas Art Conservatory plans continue to be underway. Dr. Laura Lee McCartney, Chair of FWAFA's Visual Arts Department is helping develop the curriculum to offer high quality programs to students. The target launch date is January 2019.
