Texas Center for Arts + Academics is the charter holder of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA).

Call the Meeting to Order
Melissa Goodroe called a meeting of the board of directors of Texas Center for Arts + Academics to order on Tuesday Nov 28, 2017 at 6:01 PM.

Approve minutes, September 26, 2017
Michael Wellbaum made a motion to approve minutes from the Board Meeting on 09-26-17 Board Meeting on 09-26-17.
Linda Metcalf seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. FINANCE
A.
Financial Report
Janelle Grau presented September 2017 and October 2017 financial reports for the Board's review.
B.
First Financial Management Report
Annual presentation of FIRST Report, which is required by the State of Texas.
FWAFA and TeSA received A+ Superior Ratings and Charter School Scores of 100% for fiscal year 2016. As an organization, we are careful with resources, investing them where they matter most, and disclose conflicts of interest.

2017-2018 Goal of $100,000.00
We exceeded our goal, seeing a 22% increase over last year by raising $104,000.00.
100% of the Board participated.
School family participation was about the same as 2016-2017 with 72% FWAFA and 70% TeSA participating.
Additionally, 67% of FWAFA Staff and 83% of TeSA Staff participated.

Arts + Eats
At the October 2017 Arts + Eats, there were 5 board members and 15 guests in attendance.
Guests included foundations, Ft Worth Opera Executive Director, and friends/colleagues of Board members.
Next Arts + Eats is February 8, 2018 so please start putting together your invitation list.
The purpose of Arts + Eats is to introduce our organization for the cultivation of donors, board members, and advocacy.

The Arts Gala 2018: Enchanted
Karen and Larry Anfin are Honorary Gala Chairs.
Casey and Mark Oliver are Host Committee Chairs.
Sponsorship deadline for print date to be included in the Fort Worth Texas Magazine ad is January 19, 2018.
We have 46 tables that seat 10 to fill.
Secured sponsors include Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet, Karen and Larry Anfin, and Designs for Living. Secured in kind corporate sponsors include Alpha Graphics, Fort Worth Texas Magazine, and Cook Children's. Past sponsors expected to return are Frost Bank, PlainsCapital, and our families.
Parent volunteers partnering with our Board = a successful Gala.
Melissa Goodroe commended our parents, who are primarily instrumental in the work of the event. It's up to the Board to make sure we have great participation and community representation at this important and exciting event.

IV. Strategic Plan
A.
Shared Vision of Excellence Committee Report
The November meeting had to be postponed until after Thanksgiving. We are working on a rescheduled date in December.
B.
Communication & Collaboration Committee Report
Communications Director Rob Hosier created an Organizational Communication Map to help everyone visualize all the different people/organizations we communicate with through TCAA as the center 'hub' of TBC, TDC, FWAFA, and TeSA.
A survey will go out soon as part of our Strategic Plan.
As a committee they haven't met yet; meeting to be held soon.
Rob is working to launch new websites and social media.

Sustainable & Efficient System Committee Report
Baseline established for income producing events/activities is complete.
Development staff has been hired, trained, and are progressing forward.
Committee has established an Advisory Council Purpose Statement and are now working on a plan of action.
We will meet again as a committee in December to solidify the Advisory Council list and create next steps for recruitment.

V. OTHER BUSINESS

Good News Report
Rob Hosier - We are embarking on and launching TCAA Facebook page and website in combination with Karen Mueller's class (student led) incorporating Creative Instruction.
Barry King - He will be a grandfather for the 1st time in July 2018.
Gail Hartsfield and Stephen Madrid - Faculty Talent show rehearsals are starting soon. Pam Acker is doing a solo so everyone should attend. It is a 50s/60s theme. The show takes place January 12th and 13th, 2018.
Gail - Student performances in December include the Dance Company on December 1 & 2, Children's Choir on December 5, Open Art Show on the 7th, Academy Choir on the 15th, Elf the middle school musical on the 16th and 17th, and TBC Holiday Concert on the 19th.
Check website for more dates and information on upcoming performances. TBC is performing almost everyday in December.
At noon on Friday, December 8th, TBC will close out Caroling in the District on WRR radio.
Melissa thanked staff for all they do to invest in the children.
