In-person Meeting Return: Governor Abbott’s March 2020 order temporarily suspending certain provisions of the Open Meetings Act due to the COVID-19 pandemic disaster expired August 31, 2021. Consequently, TCA+A Board Meetings will return to in-person meetings at Texas School of the Arts.

Cheryl Bean called a meeting of the board of directors of Texas Center for Arts + Academics to order on Monday Oct 20, 2025 at 6:17 PM.

IV. Informal Hearing 10/8/2025

Answers to Questions Raised

Mrs. Bean (Board Chair) thanked audience for sharing, letting them know their thoughts really matter to the Board.

 

Mr. Wellbaum (Board Member) spoke regarding the nature of the presence of the Schools' attorney at meetings:

  • there to ensure the Board is in compliance with Open Records and Open Meetings' rules
  • there to ensure the Board is following the rules and laws

Mrs. Bean explained that Mr. Mitchell (the Schools' attorney) would read the questions gathered from the October 8th meeting and the ones he collected during tonight's Public Comments and either Mrs. Bean or Dr. Perkins would answer them. 

 

A question-and-answer discussion followed.
