School Leadership Report: Standing agenda items

Fall 2023 Interim Assessment Data reviewed:

  • ELA Interim SBA Score by grade - only two ninth-grade students are represented in the graph shared. More students will be added in future reports because 42 students are scheduled to participate in fall makeup testing today (Dec 11, 2023), and the next round of interim testing is mid-January 2024. Dawn will aim to have the updated report to be shared at the January academic and board meetings.
  • The number of students on the schedule to complete makeups today are:
    • 9th grade: 4 students
    • 10th grade: 13 students
    • 11th grade: 13 students
    • 12th grade: 12 students
  • Math interim SBA scores - in general, math remains a challenge. Only two ninth graders are reflected in the data.
  • SBA interim testing is now halted. We will continue SBA summative testing due to national requirements.
    • NWEA MAP testing will start in January - will be able to apply to specific math & ELA skills and the data may be represented differently as the questions adjust according to each student's skill level, and offer more actionable data. MAP test will be used for interim and summative.
    • MAP testing can meet the graduation pathway requirements.
    • The next interim testing will be in January and we will use the MAP testing for winter and spring interims. The summative testing will be SBA.

Students tested by grade reported and participation strategies were discussed.

Percent of interim assessment growth- spring to fall.

Notes:

  • Staff analyzed data on the November 6th Data Day.
    • Started with the spring 2023 summative data, especially since a few staff members are new and looked for patterns. Staff compared attendance data and summative data to look for patterns.
    • Fall 2023 data investigated for what areas for improvement. Data shows how long each student took for each test to provide a bit more context of the student's performances. The staff looked at summative data by grade level to identify cohort-level progress.
  • The staff will be trained on MAP report reading on March 2024 data day.

B.

Update on the Corrective Action Plan (CAP)

  • At last week's CSC Performance Committee meeting, they recognized WIHS' improvement in our attendance policies and procedures.

School Specific Goals 2023-2024

  • Discussed interim assessments. We will re-evaluate the metrics outlined in SSG because we are implementing the NWEA MAPS test. We will revisit this in the January board meeting.
  • Discussed student participation in SBA. Data will be updated and reported in the January 2024 board meeting.
    • We discussed the possibility of having a NWEA MAPS representative to give a brief overview of the MAPS test at the January 2024 board meeting.

III. Other Business

A.

Other updates

We discussed a few other assessment options: ACT Work Keys testing.
