Call the Meeting to Order

K. Tedstone called a meeting of the Development Committee of F.W. Parker Charter Essential School to order on Wednesday Sep 9, 2020 at 7:30 AM.

Approve Minutes

M. VanderWilden made a motion to approve the minutes from June Development Meeting on 06-03-20.
J. Saxe seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Development 2019-2020

A.

Our Essential Commitment Fund

Used a text rendering exercise to extract important sentences and phrases from the 2020-2021 Fund Planning document.
Sentences pulled out were:
-It is our sincere goal to reaffirm our long-standing commitment to providing the most optimal learning environment to support the most enriching, student-centered educational experiences to students in the safest way possible.
-Covid-19 has shown us that those strong relationships between faculty and students is what inspires students to continue meaningful learning whether they are in the building or not.
-We need our community to stand up for Parker.
-It is our faculty that is at the heart of Parker.

The group then brainstormed ways to engage constituencies this year:
New Families-
Virtual Community Conversations
Social Media page for parents of the class of 2026
An advisory for new parents
Parker-specific Kahoots
Utilizing pictures from orientation/registration
Information about how charter schools are funded
Current Families-
Drive home message "Stand up for Parker"
Self-care group for parents- yoga/meditation/nutrition  "take care of ourselves so we can take care of our students"
Virtual party
Alumni-
Start senior year to get them in the habit of giving
Maintain connection over the years
zoom reunions
specific asks for classes

Donor Relations

Katrina gave highlights to the group about the success of the Caring Calls this Spring.
