Notice is hereby given that Lake Oconee Academy will hold its regular public meeting on Monday April 13th, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Lake Oconee Academy High School, Building 800, Room 8104, 1021 Titan Circle, Greensboro, Georgia. 

 

 

Meetings are open to the public, and all interested parties are invited to attend.

I. Opening Items

A.

Attendance and Establish a Quorum

Chair - Matt Waterfield, Treasurer - Sarah Peacock, Secretary - Ansley Vinson, CEO - Dr. Brad Bowling, and Board Members Ken Welch and Machelle Usry were present and on time and stayed for the duration of the meeting. Director of Communications, Ashley Jeffords, was also in attendance.

Approval of Minutes

Ken Welch made a motion to approve the minutes from Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors Meeting on 02-25-26.
Sarah Peacock seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Committee Reports

A.

Finance

Machelle Usry made a motion to Approve the March Financials for information only.
Ken Welch seconded the motion.

March Financials were presented by Treasurer, Sarah Peacock, for information only. 

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

B.

Capital Projects

May 8th, 2026 there will be a joint training of the Greene County Board of Education and Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors from 12pm-4pm at Greene County School System to where capital projects will be further discussed. 

III. Executive Director Report

A.

Counseling and Academic Report

Dr. Bowling shared the counseling and academic report with the Board of Governors including where and how many students are attending college and trade schools, academic and athletic scholarships, and where they are enlisting in the armed forces. LOA is gearing up for the Georgia Milestones and anticipating positive growth. 

B.

Athletics Report

Great success at the middle school level and high school levels. LOA has started a bass fishing team and a wrestling club team. For the first time ever, LOA swept all middle school and varsity region championships for the spring season. 

C.

Applications

Lottery is Wednesday, April 15th. LOA has 283 applicants with 46 priority students (186 applicants and 11 priority students excluding Pre-K).

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 5:42 PM.
