II. Executive Director's Report to the Board

Executive Director's Report to the Board
ESL data doesn't look as good as last year, but we are outperforming our targets. Our criteria was raised despite this. 55% of students hit their target. Denise mentioned that it could be an error by the State, Kendra will provide update when she gets a response to her inquiry.
Finished ELA MCAS, awaiting results. No reply about State visit yet. Received letter back from DOJ indicating case (from 4 years ago) is closed.
Sturbridge Village trip with kindergarten was negative. Venue was unorganized. Racist interaction with group from CT. Kendra called Sturbridge Village and is awaiting response.
Most of 46 suspensions are in school. Out of school is for a day usually.
This Friday staff are going to visit a school that use a dismissal app, potential to use it at MLKCSE.
Second re-design done for parking lot expansion.
Gala speakers have been confirmed and committee is meeting weekly, tickets are available now.
Several recent issues with vandalism, trespassing on school grounds by members of community. Kendra asked for suggestions from board on ways to deter. Potential for increased police patrols, no trespassing signs put up as options.

20-25 teachers will be trained in literacy.

In good shape currently. Grant funds can be spent until September 30.

Updates
Kendra and Teremar have been recruiting. Encouraged all board members to participate in finding potential candidates. Annual board retreat will be held in July, poll to be sent out later this week to determine exact date.
