Diana Foskett called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee Committee of Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence to order on Thursday May 14, 2026 at 10:27 AM.

Approving Minutes
Nealon Jaynes-Lewis made a motion to approve the minutes from April Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 04-09-26.
Diana Foskett seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

Committee Best Practices Discussion
- Diana Yousfi presented the ACCESS data, explaining that the new scoring system from WIDA cannot be compared to previous years' results due to changes in standards alignment.
- Diana noted that proficiency rates decreased to 63% this year, falling short of the 74.9% accountability target, though they could not determine if this was due to the new scoring system.
- This year's ACCESS scores will serve as a baseline for next year's data.
- The number of students exiting the ESL program this year is 15- which is the same as last year.
- Diana also covered upcoming end-of-year assessments including DIBELS, I-Ready, and ESL benchmarks, which will be used to identify retention candidates and prioritize summer school students.
