Teremar Rodriguez-Vazquez called a meeting of the Governance Committee Committee of Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence to order on Friday Mar 13, 2026 at 4:09 PM.

II. Vote on Committee Meeting Minutes

Vote on Minutes December 5, 2025

Donna Carroll made a motion to approve the minutes from Governance Committee Meeting on 12-05-25.
Diana Foskett seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

III. Governance

A.

Discuss Committee Composition and Goals

  • Caleb is was officially approved to be part of the board.
  •  The board discussed transition plans, with Diana agreeing to chair and the need to fill positions for treasurer and vice chair/clerk. 
  • The board also noted they are still seeking new board members. Kendra proposed using the upcoming community breakfast as an opportunity to recruit new board members, with the event scheduled for 8:30-10:00 AM the following Wednesday. 
  • The board received positive news about their charter renewal, which was approved with no conditions, though some compliance areas were identified that need attention including open meeting laws and minutes.
