Call the Meeting to Order
Teremar Rodriguez-Vazquez called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee Committee of Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence to order on Thursday Nov 13, 2025 at 10:15 AM.
II. Academic Excellence
A.
Academic Data Update
- The Academic Leadership Team (ALT) reground the committee in the school's annual priorities for this academic year.
- The ALT discussed the November Excellence Incentive.
- The structure and foci of Grade Level Team meeting were shared.
- The ALT shared out on Q1 towards end-of-year goal with regards to reading and math.
- Instructional staff are continuing to implement Responsive Classroom principles and practices.
- Teachers are actively engaging in reflective dialogue to eliminate barriers to learning and enhance classroom effectiveness.
- Student Honor Council has been launched for this academic year to promote character development and foster a strong sense of community and student leadership across the school.
- The ALT shared out about the various ways the school is actively engaging our families and the community.
- For the school's ESL Department, the teachers are participating in a four part series with EdQuity consulting on using the WIDA Proficiency Descriptors and diving deeper into forms and features of language and how to scaffold up and down.
- Year-end linguistic goals have been created for all multilingual learners.
- The committee discussed the topics we will focus on at next meeting: DIBELS Progress Monitoring, Intervention Updates, how the data fits together to show the progress we are making.

Approving Minutes
Diana Foskett made a motion to Approve the Academic Committee Meeting minutes from September 2025.
Teremar Rodriguez-Vazquez seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.
Diana Foskett made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Committee on 09-11-25.
Teremar Rodriguez-Vazquez seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
