Call the Meeting to Order

Jennifer Wallace-Johnson called a meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee Committee of Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence to order on Saturday Jul 13, 2024 at 11:15 AM.

II. Strategic Planning & Revisions

A.

Committee Goals Discussion

The Strategic Planning Committee reviewed our committee meeting goals 
 

 1. Setup Formal Partnerships with colleges, universities, and Community Based Organizations. (Internships, Practicums, Teaching Partners)

  • We have set up a somewhat formal partnership with AIC. We have done some work with their OT program.
  • Jenn discussed a colleague we might connect with from STCC (focus on early childhood partnership)
  • We host practicums from Springfield College and Bay Path currently
  • With the internal teacher pipeline program we started, and the lack of RoI, we discussed whether or not putting substantial energy into this is worth it.

2. Connecting with external partners and explore opportunities to create fieldwork opportunities for students. (I.e. Local Colleges & Community Centers)

  • AIC, Alison, and the OT program working with lunch groups, OT partnership

3. Explore and create opportunities for Experiential Learning

  • We discussed connections we might have - Springfield Museums
