Old Business

• Spring Fling: 
  • Spring Fling totals (presented by R. Beck): cash sales: $1536, credit card sales: $987, for a total of $2523.00
    $911.19 spent on event for a profit of $1611.81 ($300 more than last year's event)
    Raffle for shed was a lot of paperwork and did not seem worth doing that way again
  • Feedback: 
    • J. Poole asked for band feedback; M. Watkins said everyone liked the band. J. Poole will request band return for 2027 event and ask them to come early to set up. M. Watkins suggested having the band 2 sets with student performance in the middle. 
    • A. Wright suggested moving vendors into the fence (perhaps under the eaves at high school)
    • O. Hawkins said feedback from food trucks was good; would like to have 5 trucks next year; M. Watkins suggested Jamaican truk
    • Committee discussed moving event off campus; concluded it is better to keep it on campus
    • R. Beck suggested inviting LMS applicants to the event to see campus in May (no school tours in May)
    • Professionally done banners next year rather than doing them in-house
    • O. Hawkins suggested ways to incentivize parents to bring other members from the community 
    • A. Wright suggested sharing about event at Port Royal Town Hall meeting
    • S. Fox will boost posts on Facebook for next year's event

• At start of discussion, J. Poole asked about another potential fundraiser for school by having students make dog treats. J. Poole stated Woof Waggin' will pay for supplies and Middle School students could make them as a business. S. Fox will discuss with middle school guides.
• Dates/discussions of 2026-2027 Fundraisers: 
  • Spring Fling- May 15 from 12-4
  • Talent Show-March 19 6:00 PM (dress rehearsal on March 18 at 6:00 PM)
  • Santa pictures? Will need to discuss with V. Romig at next meeting
  • Holiday shop?  S. Fox suggests selling donated items in good condition
    • M. Watkins suggested making items as well (ornaments, jewelry); S. Fox suggested inviting D. Savage to next meeting as art teacher for feedback on this proposal 
  • Afternoon Tea- Jan 23 from 2-3:30 
    • T. Brosnan suggests having upper elementary help as servers and limiting event to kindergarten and lower elementary students based on last year's turnout. 
  • Trunk or Treat - October 22 from 5:30 -7:30/ It Girls Halloween Dance- October 22 6:00-7:00 for up to 3rd grade; 7:30 to 9:00 for Upper elementary and possibly middle school?
    • J. Poole brought up It Girls Halloween Dance dates. Suggestion was made to combine Halloween dance and trunk or treat
    • Discussion of whether or not SRO Doug is required for Halloween Party (S. Fox will find out)
    • Discussion of inclusion of middle schoolers-will follow up at next meeting 
    • Board meeting is the same night; discussion of if board meeting will wrap up in time for Trunk or Treat 
  • Food Truck Night- November 5 from 5:30-7:30 PM (set up at 5:00 PM)
    • O. Hawkins asked about adding vendors for FT night; M. Watkins suggested it may be too much to do in one small event. 
    • Will ask 5-7 trucks; have lawn games and/or group game like last year
  • Drive in Night? 
    • T. Brosnan asked about a drive-in night near October; will ask V. Romig about setting this up again 
• New Fundraiser Ideas
  • M. Watkins would like to engage in a year-long campaign to get word out about LMS. She suggested an event in the fall that includes students who received the Secession Scholarship (student banquet) to share how they've utilized those scholarships. Also could invite other scholarship entities (Spring Island, for example). M. Watkins suggested a Powerpoint presentation that shows local business owners the skills learned at LMS. 
    • M. Watkins already has a commitment from S. Stewart for this "future leaders" banquet. 
  • M. Watkins has created a donation list for staff to share needs for classroom items
  • Potential tournament or Pickleball game (could even be integrated into Food Truck night)
  • LMS Calendar (created for sale in January) 
• Engagement in upcoming events
  • Discussion of how to engage fundraising committee in more events. A. Wright will make a fundraising committee events flyer to share at fundraising table at back to school night. T. Brosnan will make a dip from the cookbook to encouraged cookbook sales.
