Spring Fling Review

  • A. Wright shared feedback from vendors about placement outside of event (people were in a rush walking in and too tired to shop while leaving); S. Fox had received contradictory vendor feedback (that it gave multiple opportunities for visibility to vendors)
  • S. Fox asked if we want to keep Spring Fling on campus
    • A Wright brought up potential concerns with this (police support needed if alcohol present, porta potties)
    • V. Romig noted that it's nice to showcase campus
    • T. Brosnan suggested school performance outside of Spring Fling Event
    • S. Fox noted that International Night may move to April; potentially could move student performances to that event
    • S. Fox has a contact for portapotties
  • S. Fox Spring Fling Feedback:
    • Food truck walkway congestion (Gma on Ice area)
    • Dunk Tank location (throwing at sidewalk led to congestion on sidewalk)
    • Student worker sign in/assignment needs to be more clear and organized
  • V. Romig Spring Fling Feedback:
    • More garbage cans where food trucks are located
    • Cotton candy was popular; should make ahead next year
      • T. Brosnan asked about purchase of cotton candy machine for culinary; S. Fox thinks it could be CTE item?
    • May owe J. Poole money for supplies
    • Better donation contracts/understanding
    • Better markers for vendors
    • Split up student performances to keep parents present
    • Walls could have been used for band set up (this was feedback from J. Poole on day of event)
    • Make own snow cones?
      • A. Wright noted cost analysis should be done on this
    • Cake walk (maybe instead of every 15 minutes, do it once 3-5 people are present)
    • No concerns with parking
      • A. Wright shared that only negative faculty feedback in google survey (only 3 responses) was about parking; S. Fox was unclear on specifics of this issue
  • V. Romig felt that lemonade and water purchases were well planned; sold out of all lemonade and fruit punch; remaining water was donated to Julia for kitchen
  • V. Romig thought more games with prizes for younger kids would be good next year
    • T. Brosnan reported Kan Jam was a difficult game (hard to play, less appealing)
    • S. Fox noted that Spike Ball was not popular and corn hole placement was poor (too close to bounce house and entertainment)
  • T. Brosnan reported tie dye station was successful; sold out of socks
  • S. Fox: tattoo a teacher still going; some teachers had no purchases
  • V. Romig: table placements worked well (A. Wright confirmed seating was very helpful)
  • T. Brosnan: better recycling visibility next time
  • A. Wright: other faculty feedback was positive besides parking issue
  • V. Romig asked if Spring Fling would be a teacher work day in future; S. Fox replied that it could be
  • A. Wright will send out an email to solicit availability of committee members for next fundraising meeting
  • S. Fox stated sign up should be earlier for dunk tank so students can plan to dunk teachers they want to dunk
  • V. Romig: bounce house was successful
  • S. Fox: Makers space should have been further out (hard to draw people in for their sales table and the shed)
  • A. Wright estimates approx. $3000 in profits from event (food trucks was $400, $550 from vendors)
  • S. Fox shared several reports of concerns about chicken from BBQ truck
  • V. Romig: Francy's signs were good; enter/exit signs might be helpful
    • also suggested dancers or other performances to bring in more of the public
