Academic Updates

 

 

MAP Testing  (Measures of Academic Progress)- Reported by R. Edwards and C. Hudson

 

Teacher Performance:

 

  • R. Edwards commends teachers for their strong performance.
  • Student Growth - MAP Testing Results:
  • ELA Proficiency (Grades 2-8, 2023-2024 Comparison):
  • All grades showed growth except for 6th and 8th grade in 2024.
  • 7th grade demonstrated a 25% improvement from the previous year.
  • Math Proficiency:
  • Growth was observed in all grades except for 2nd, 3rd, and 6th.

 

Factors Contributing to Score Dips:

 

  • Student assessment performance typically declines in the winter.
  • Lower grades are still developing skills needed for MAP assessments.
  • MAP testing is used to inform instructional practices and support skill development .

Focus on Student Growth:

 

  • Consistent teaching practices
  • Literacy implementation
  • Small group instruction

Language Updates

 

Stamp 4Se Performance Test for Chinese - Presentaton by P.Pruss

 

Current Student Proficiency Levels (2024)

 

  • Most 7th and 8th grade students are at Level 0 or Level 1.
  • 8th Grade:  7 students have reached Level 4 in writing, and 3 students have reached Level 4 in speaking.
  • 7th Grade:  Of 74 students, 46% have achieved Level 3 in listening, and 26% have reached Level 3 in reading.

Testing Details:

 

  • Conducted via computer in April.
  • The speaking portion requires  students to respond using headphones, with two opportunities to answer correctly.

Future Plans:

 

  • Mr. Pruss intends to introduce Spainish in the 2026-2027 school year, using the Stamp Program for assessment.
