Call the Meeting to Order

R. Pavone called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Wesley International Academy to order on Tuesday May 14, 2024 at 8:34 AM.

Approve Minutes

Minutes are delayed due to absentance of note taker.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

Goal Updates

2 %gain

math standards have changed and we did not adjust for this change..

ccrpi may reflect this.  

look into further make sure we aline 

 

stem training:  difficult to monitor and access to training.

this started 2nd semseter about 90% of our teachers finished 

We will continue to improve to improve PD for STEM

 

Literacy committee has been formed andd there will be some changes.

one is providing curriculim for teachers.  Teachrs can focus on develivery.

this will be implemented in grade level meetings.

Academic Updates

Development in planning and giving coaches materials to help teachers.

 

There will be curriculum changes making sure we are tteaching to standards.

 

Meetings could be 2 or 3 weeks on one subject.  Not mixing several things in one meeting.

 

Schedule will give teahers more time to work on literacy.

Whats the difference in State Standards for math?  We were using MAP standards.

 

More heavy on curtical thinking and word problems. This shift was made after COVID.

State has not offered many opportunites for PD .
