Lagging Data from Benchmark 1 from last month:
lower grades do well, then dip, then recover - the standards are different and hard to compare
ELA - 1st and 7th performed well
Science - 8th grade scores low but not a drop from where they were last year
Social Studies - not a lot of variation across grade levels
Trends -
PYP:
Social Studies - struggling with place and geography - coordinated with science; inferences are problematic as well (application); ELA - reading in literature good but struggled in the language standards; math was strongest except in 1st;
Professional learning - teachers struggling with the application piece
MYP - math - number systems strongest but struggle with explaining their answers; writing in 8th grade a strength; students will not read long passages; science - has a strong math focus and students are struggling (pacing may be a factor); social studies - civics and government is a matter of focus
Next steps -
Transdisciplinary learning - geography focus in different subjects
Professional development - differentiation
revamped tutorial - focus on struggling students in math and reading but now they are dedicated to a day for each subject -
