  • 7 Board Members completed training: remaining members must finish by end of June for Donica Johnson to upload into Board on Track.

III. ED Updates

A.

Facility and Personnel Updates

APS Final walk through completed:  Cook Building  is ready for students with new furniture.

Renovation includes new windows, new HVAC, new plumbing and fixtures.  These systems will improve efficiency .

 

Move-in preparation is underway for our late July/early August reopening

 

Wesley celebrates 20 years as a charter school, many charter schools do not achieve this longevity through multiple renewals); Dr.Edward's beginning tenure start off school's "next 20 years"

 

Racheld Goodman willl be new Chief Academic Officer a new role for Wesley. 

 Dr. Edwards is our new principal effective immediately.

Principal Updates

New hires for 2026-2027:

 

  • Middle School Assistant Principal we had 80 applicants with project-based learning and STEM training expertise.

 

  • Signature programs coach with extensive IB program experience at middle and high school levels.

 

  • New half-day summer camp and family social event for incoming kindergartners to learn the "Wesley Way" before the first day.

 

8th grade graduation highlights:

 

  • Ceremony held at Georgia Aquarium with over half of graduates attending Wesley since kindergarten.
  • Strong parent expressions of gratitude for staff's work throughout the year.

 

Test Results:

 

  • ELA Georgia Milestones results will come out November 2026.
  • CCRPI projections are being updated with retest results:  waiting for final scores embargoed until state releases.

 

 

IV. Academic Excellence

A.

Academic Updates

Student achievement since COVID:

 

  • Math proficiency:  21% to 39%
  • Science proficiency : 16% to 37%
  • Social Studies proficiency:  30% to over 40%

 

Targeted Schools List status:

 

  • Wesley remains on list for elementary special ed literacy performance (identified November/December 2025)
  • Results dependent on November 2026 Georgia Milestones ELA scores 
  • Exit from list determined by comparison to bottom 25% statewide, not just internal improvement.

 

STEM/Project-Based Learning progress:

 

  • All grade levels now planning and implementing PBLs as planned; state feedback  pending on submission.

 

  • STEM truck partnership secured for culture building and teacher training focused on journaling.

 

  • Writing instruction significantly expanded this year to address previous weakness; results in November 2026

VI. Finance

A.

Fy 2027 Budget

B. Little made a motion to Approve FY 2026-2027 Budget.
S. Williams seconded the motion.

Budget is based on enrollment.  746 students  is enrollment number for budget.  Average is 770 and Wesley is allowed to go up to 824.

 

  • State QBE Funding:  1% increase, largely offset by TRS pension increase from 21.91 to 22.32%

 

  • Local Revenue: 2% increase per APS estimate; no fund balance from APS this year (first APS balanced budget since COVID).

 

  • Total Revenue:  19.2 M including $540K federal funds;grants excluded from forecast until confirmed.

 

Expenses:

 

  • Compensation:  14.7 M all full-time staff on ssalary tables receive step increases.
  • Heathcare premiums:  15% increase forecast 
  • Maintenance savings:$461K reduction from Coan building exit (electric bills were 2.5-3x higher at Coan than Cook)
  • Transportation savings: Significant reduction as temporary Coan shuttle service ends.
