State TSI Plan

Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Special Ed

DOJ List .  We did not meet threshold for Special Ed population.

How did we get on this list:

Main issue with PYP.  Goodman explains there are 52 students for PYP ELA.

Our school in special ed math we exceeded.  Special Ed teachers

said even if students are on 1st grade reading level they have to be exposed to their grade level reading.

Plan of Action:

  • Focus on high quality instruction in our Special ED classes.
  • Increased support for small group and co-taught classes
  • Monitoring student proficiency on standards-based instruction
  • Heavy emphasis on reading and writing instruction
  • Collaborative planning sessions with Special Ed teachers
  • Saturday tutorial

 Board Memeber ask:

  •  Did teachers give feedback of what problems they have".
  • Are we giving incentives?
  • Parent Involvement  ( can you give packets for students to take home).
  • Curriculum is it sufficient ?
  • Behavior is not an issue

Kate Boyer ask does  focusing on Math effect ELA ?

  • Main focus is writing
