The April 2021  meeting of the WIA Board of Directors will take place on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 beginning at 6:00pm. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.   We hope to see as many stakeholders attend as possible.

II. Executive Director Updates
  A. School Update
   
1. General contract up date. Contracts were issued on the 29th of March. They are due to be returned on the 12th of April.
2. Plans for virtual teachers to return to the building on May 3rd.

III. Public Comments
  A. Public Comments
   
Public comments are encouraged and must remain in accordance with WIA policies and procedures.  The board allows any stakeholder an open forum to state their comments during any regularly scheduled or special meeting of the Board of Directors.
• Public comments are limited to 2 minutes per person.
• This is not a question and answer session, but rather an opportunity for stakeholders to share their thoughts and opinions in a respectful manner.
• Those wishing to comment to should sign up in advance of the meeting via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1F-1HHyOAtNISLHxyfyZ9e_a3DPZZBCX7bubkbqZ9nlY/viewform.  Please note, online sign up will close fifteen minutes before the start of the meeting.  Those wishing to speak that have not signed up online in advance of the meeting may sign up in person prior to the beginning of the board meeting.
• In the interest of time, all policies and procedures, specifically time limits, will be strictly enforced.
IV. Board Chair Updates
  A. Spring Board Training Session
   
The Spring Board Training Session will take place on Tuesday, April 20th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm via Zoom.

 

This training will be administered by GCSA and will satisfy 2 hours of topics aligned with SBOE standards and 1 hour of financial governance.

 

Reminder: All board members, regardless of whether or not they are returning next year, must complete their required training hours prior to June 30, 2021.

  • We were awarded an $8,000 grant from redefinED Atlanta. These funds will directly help us address our equity and SEL (social-emotional learning) initiatives. 
  • We are on track to exceed our stretch fundraising goal of $75,000.
  • We've been invited to apply for a grant through the Tull Foundation
  • Dine Out with Your Pie in April
  • PTSA is working on a spring Movie Night -Red Thread would sponsor and PTSA executing
