Opening Items

Public comments are encouraged and must remain in accordance with WIA policies and procedures.  The board allows any stakeholder an open forum to state their comments during any regularly scheduled or special meeting of the Board of Directors.
• Public comments are limited to 2 minutes per person.
• This is not a question and answer session, but rather an opportunity for stakeholders to share their thoughts and opinions in a respectful manner.
• Those wishing to comment to should sign up in advance of the meeting via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1F-1HHyOAtNISLHxyfyZ9e_a3DPZZBCX7bubkbqZ9nlY/viewform.  Please note, online sign up will close fifteen minutes before the start of the meeting.  Those wishing to speak that have not signed up online in advance of the meeting may sign up in person prior to the beginning of the board meeting.
• In the interest of time, all policies and procedures, specifically time limits, will be strictly enforced.

Executive Director's recommendation regarding whether to cease single gender operations pursuant to the APS Charter Renewal Review Panel's suggestion to narrow WIA's major components from 3 to 2.

Should the Board's vote serve to cease single gender operations, the following implementation options stated in section D and E will be considered for the Board's approval.  Should the Board's vote not support ceasing single gender operations, sections D and E will not be discussed.

Option A: Implement a 2017-2018 SY transition plan that begins to integrate classrooms to co-ed after Milestones in the Spring.

Option B: Implement a 2018-2019 transition plan that integrates classrooms to co-ed beginning the first day of school for the 2018-2019 SY.

Approve written response to APS regarding requested clarification and supplemental information to Charter Renewal Petition approved by BOD during July 2017 meeting. 
After filing the Charter Renewal Petition, APS has requested clarification and supplemental information to proceed forward with the Charter Renewal.  The full letter from APS can be found in the October 2017 draft minutes of the BOD Meeting, which was held on October 17th.  This vote will be to approve the written response addressing the request for clarification and supplemental information, as well as granting the district ninety (90) additional days, beyond the initial ninety (90) day review period, and must be submitted no later than November 3, 2017;

 

November meeting scheduled for 11/14/17 and will be attended by Jan Hanson.
December meeting scheduled for 12/12/17 and will be attended by Suzanne Burnes.
January meeting scheduled for 01/09/18 and will be attended by Tom Tidwell and Katie Delp.

All three meeting updates will be provided at the next regularly scheduled board meeting in January
