IHSNO Student Highlight

We have Ms. Paris Hayes- student body president.

attend Loyola University and major in criminal justice.

How would you describe your experience here at IHSNO?

A sense of diversity and expressing their culture.

Communication is something we can do better.  Faculty/teacher communication can improve.

What class did you like? English is the class I like and I hope to write a book in the future.

What recommendation on how we can recruit new students? Social media tell them about our school having students with million-dollar scholarships. IHSNO is a graduating school for students.

Spring 2023 Advocacy Updates

Sarah- All the things happening in NOLA

My goal is to inform and talk about Board Governance. How do we set long-term solutions to make this school successful?

District Level

New Superindentent - big change. Dr. Williams- is not from here, she's an outsider coming into the space, and there is a big learning gap. With new leadership, big learning curve.

Trying to build a relationship with our community leader. Why to chose IHSNO

We have a fast rate of population in the country- job opportunities.

weather

agricultural

Housing - insurance for our property.

population decline

Declining student enrollment

 CSAF -Renewal consideration

District 5-year planning

Quality

Quantity

Portrait of the graduate

How can honesty be implemented in the early years-Kindergarten?

How do we collaborate with the city which impacts

housing-

NOPD's declining 800 police officers available in the city? No one is following up with truancy.

Invite the major and tell them about the issues.

City ARPA programs

Federal Aid. Rescue plan monies.

STATE:

The legislature has to run in the Fall.

Bills of the headline

Senator Bouie-- a direct attack on charter autonomy

Talk of teacher pay raise. Restricted funding- Level 1 MFP.

Haven't had one level 1 increase in 12 years. But there is no other funding to supplement other costs.

We don't know what our budget will be in a few years 2025.

Election- Governor BESE- Republican- we can become the next Florida and Texas.

Changing out our majority.

5 years where the education system is going.

Religions charter school? We would be competing with the archdiocese for funding.

Education saving accounts? Universal education gives parents- vouchers to private schools.

There is a lot coming to our charter schools.

We asking to stay united as charter schools and we are only 10% of the school population.

Because of our Board engagement in talking about education and making collaboration to empower our students.
